Perinatal Counselling
For some people, pregnancy can be a challenging time. If this is you, you are not alone. Choices can offer you support.
Choices’ perinatal counselling is available both to those who are pregnant, or in the perinatal period (up to one year postpartum) as well as their partners. It can be helpful for anyone who may be experiencing low mood, anxiety or other challenges due to the pregnancy.
Our service offers weekly low-cost integrative counselling throughout pregnancy and into new parenthood. There is a break in counselling sessions when a pregnancy reaches 37 weeks, sessions then restart as soon as clients are ready after giving birth. Counselling continues for a further six sessions within the four months after baby is born.
We know that pregnancy and new parenthood can be full of change. Our clients appreciate the continuity of working with the same counsellor throughout pregnancy and postnatally.
What does it cost?
As a charity we are committed to our services being open to all. We do charge for counselling services but ask clients to pay what they can, with our low cost service basing payment on a sliding scale of income.
We ask you to pay between £4 — £40 per 50 minute session. A maximum of 24 sessions is offered. Please feel free to let us know if costs will be a challenge.
