Parenting Course

Parenting can be tough. But it’s so much easier when you have the tools to understand your children better. Build a strong bond with your children now, and it will benefit their lives long into the future (and yours too).

That’s where Choices comes in.

The Circle of Security Parenting Course

At times we all have anxiety about parenting: are we doing it right? Why are we making mistakes?

How do we respond well when our children have big feelings?

Can we prevent ourselves from parenting on autopilot – or stop ourselves from saying the same things our parents said?

Choices is offering the well-respected Circle of Security parenting course online, which will give you the tools to deal with all of these issues!

What is the Circle of Security Parenting Course?

Circle of Security is an eight session course that gives parents and caregivers space to reflect and meet others as we explore together how to support our children’s needs and help them to be securely attached to their care-givers.

Following decades of research into attachment theory, we know that children are likely to do better in life, in relationships and in relationship with family when they are securely attached - and there are some key things we need to know as care-givers to give them the best shot at that secure attachment.

What are the details?

The course is aimed at new parents and caregivers of babies and up to five years.

Choices’ trained practitioners will be running the Circle of Security Parenting Course both in person and online across three courses this year. There are eight sessions, typically run over 6-7 weeks for around 90 minutes per week.

The course costs Choices £150 per person to run. If you can donate the cost of your place, please do so by donating using this form. If this is a challenge, please consider donating what you can afford. We do not want cost to be a barrier for anyone. Thanks to our fundraising efforts, we offer subsidised places. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch.

Register your interest for a Circle of Security Course

Thank you for your interest in our Circle of Security Parenting course. This is a warm, supportive programme designed to help parents and carers better understand their child’s emotional needs and feel more confident in their parenting. Together, we explore how children move between wanting to explore the world and needing comfort, reassurance and connection from the adults who care for them. The course offers a safe space to reflect on your child’s behaviour, think about what they may be communicating, and consider how you can respond in ways that strengthen your relationship. It is not about being a perfect parent, but about building understanding, confidence and practical ways of supporting your child.

We are planning to run this as a 7-week online programme with weekly 90 minute sessions. Please complete this form to help us understand interest and schedule sessions at a time that suits most participants.
