Prison Counselling Placement Volunteers

HMP Send

Application deadline: Tuesday 4th Nov 9am

An exciting opportunity for counselling trainees or qualified counsellors.

Choices offers counselling to women in prison around issues of pregnancy or child loss, or child separation. This offers a diverse and challenging counselling experience, both due to the nature of the client group and working in the prison environment. We provide face-to-face support to clients, 1-1 for up to 24 weekly sessions.

Please read the placement description to find out more about what is involved and the training requirements. Please note that due to the level of training and set-up required to work in the prisons, we ask for a minimum 2 year commitment from the point when you begin working with clients.

The placements we currently have available are to work at HMP Send, Surrey on Thursdays or Saturdays.

If you are interested in a placement at a different prison (HMP Bronzefield or Downview), please indicate this on your application and we will hold it on file until other placements become available.

To apply: Please send a completed application form and up-to-date CV to hr@choicescharity.org by 9am on Tuesday 4th November.
